Styro-Eyes
These were sooooooo easy to make. Seriously. We kept the activity very simple here with only a few materials but it could easily be expanded with more - feathers, construction paper, glitter, leftover parts from other toys. Go wild!
Here's the ingredients for our eyeballs:
- Styrofoam balls. It's fun to get different sizes to make your eyeballs as
large or
small as you'd like. We haven't tackled the HUGE ones yet. When I do, I'll post them.
- Water-based glue. We used a 50-pack of glitter glue tubes that were really cheap. The pupils for many of our eyes were simply different colors of the glue. The veins in the eyes were all done with the red glitter glue.
- Toothpicks. For arms, legs, etc.
- Pipe cleaners. Both the toothpicks and pipe cleaners can be stuck right into the styrofoam for legs, hair, arms, teeth, ears. We trimmed some and stuck both ends in to make smiley faces. We wrapped one around a finger and made it look like a scarf.
- Pom-poms. We glued these on for pupils, for hair, for noses, biceps. A few eyeballs were made just with the pom-poms.
- Medicine cup. The tiny 30 ml medicine cups were great for holding the eyeball while we worked on them. It does take awhile for the glue to dry and the cup made them easy to move.
That's it! Told you it was easy. We'd love to see your projects when you finish and even post the most awesome ones, so please
send them along. We'll be looking for them.
